Go away, Alice
While working at The Tuscaloosa News, one of the other designers said he was so lost, it was like he was "Alice, falling in a rabbit hole." If it isn't mentioned in the books, it's in my life. I'm almost tempted to write a paper about the influence of "Alice," but I regrettably have never read the book or seen any of the movies.

I'm sure an Alice paper would be very interesting since we've seen so many references this semester coupled with the excitement about the new movie. I've never read Alice, either, but if anyone has (or has time to) he/she should definitely consider it.
ReplyDeleteI did read Alice last semester for fun and I enjoyed it. Unless I had a condensed version and didn't know it, I think it certainly be reasonable to read it and rent the movie. I say go for it! I've always loved the Disney version and I figure you could go see the new one as well. I haven't seen it yet but I'm sure it's good!
ReplyDeleteHaha! I don't think I've ever heard someone make that statement in real life, but it does seem like Alice in Wonderland is everywhere this semester. I really need to read it.
ReplyDeleteAlice's Adventures in Wonderland is a masterpiece, as is Carroll's sequel, Through the Looking-Glass. Any excuse for reading them is a good excuse.
ReplyDeleteI will add the guy who made this statement could have come out of "Alice," since I don't think he's all there.
ReplyDeleteIf you are going to do this paper topic you should get The Annotated Alice. It has all the correlations from Dotson's real life with the Little sisters explained as they show up in the book as sometimes confusing jibber jabber.
ReplyDeleteRead it! It's a great read, and can be done within a day.
ReplyDeleteI've seen the two movies too.. Not a big fan of the recent one with Johnny Depp. It wasn't what I had expected..
I heard another reference this morning while watching ESPN. Mark Cuban was talking about his hatred for the Spurs, and he mentioned the phrase "malice in wonderland." When I searched this online, I got a long list of songs, albums, bands, and movies entitled "Malice in Wonderland." It's almost as popular as Alice in pop culture!
